Laundry

THERE'S TOO MUCH!!!!!

I have always had a lot of laundry to do, but now, it's NEVER ENDING!! Every day there are 8 britches, 8 shirts, then all the miscellaneous things that get mixed in there.

Thanks to Pinterest,  I found a recipe for homemade laundry detergent. Normally, I would buy a large jug that was about $11. For just a few dollars more I was able to buy everything I needed for this recipe and it is supposed to last much longer.

I have been washing with it for almost a week now. So far it's great!! There isn't much scent to it, but it smells clean (if that makes sense) and there is no static with clothes coming out of the dryer.

Now, if I could just catch up with it and stay caught up with it, that would be great!!! That laundry fairy would be great!! But for now, it's mom, and this mom may be tired of laundry, but I love my house being filled with kids, playing, laughing, games...the arguing can go, but that just comes with it! I would trade it for the world!!

  1. I know how you feel. Laundry is a NEVER ending story when you have lots of kids, but being a MOM is priceless.

  2. I don't have near as much laundry as you but some days it sure feels like it! HaHaHa! I use the homemade laundry soap from Pinterest, too. I use the dry version and add the Downy scent beads. It is about $6-$7 a bottle at Wal-Mart. Not sure if you use the dry or liquid version so here is my recipe....
    1 cup Borax
    1 cup Washing Soda
1 bar Fels Naptha soap, grated (you can also use Ivory)
1 Tbls - 1 capful of scent beads (this all depends on how much scent you want your clothes to have)
Mix all together in an airtight container. For regular washers use 2 Tbls per full load; for high efficiency washers use 1 Tbls per load. I also bought those spiky plastic dryer balls (about $10, I think) to use instead of dryer sheets and my clothes come out super fluffy! I use vinegar in a downy ball instead of fabric softener. It removes any odors that may get into clothes and it's much cheaper!

I hope this is helpful for you. I have also converted from regular cleaning products to homemade. Have lots of recipes for those if you're interested.
