Let's update!

It seems like its been crazy since Spring Break. I was sick with the sinus stuff,  so much so I could barely function. Two weeks later I finally started feeling better,  but then the next day I was in the ER with the most horrific earache ever. The pain was in my face and around the back of my head, and in my ear. After some strong meds and antibiotics, my ear stopped hurting, but I still couldn't hear out of that  ear. I went to the Dr, a shot and more antibiotics, it finally started to get better.

The work on the land has been slow,  really slow, but it's coming. We still have a lot of dirt to move, and need more sand brought in. The power pole still needs to go up,  but we do have water/sewer in. I just wish it would go faster,  we all just want out there and not be back and forth. Trying to make the best of the heat the other day,  Granny let the kids play in the mud!!  Ohhh what a mess!  The kids did have fun though!

Easter was great!  The kids had a huge Easter Egg Hunt at church,  and then they were all presented age appreciate Bibles. After church, the pastor was outside with confetti filled eggs....they got everyone coming out of church!! They loved it!! Of course dinner was great, and we were stuffed!

There has been some issues with the house,  we've had to pull up the carpet in the livingroom and hallway, and replace some sheetrock ... fun stuff!!

Ahhhhh...... LIFE!

The BBB

Well,  we finally have room for everyone in one vehicle! Up to now, if all eight of us were together, we would have to take two vehicles, or someone stayed home. Now,  there is room!  I have to say,  it's not cool or stylish, but, it does fit all of us, our luggage, and the dog!!

For the eight of us,  it fits (or we fit in it) Here is The BBB...The Big Blue Beast

What a week...

Last week was long and this week doesn't seem to be just as long. Monday -Wednesday I ran errands from the time I dropped kids off till the time I picked them up. Thursday, I saw the house for one hour before leaving again to get the kids. Friday I was able to go home after dropping them off at school, but waiting for me at home was about 10 loads of laundry that needed to be folded. I was so worn out that I just sat there looking at them, hoping that the laundry fairy would show up. That didn't happen and I still have the pile staring at me, only now its bigger. (At least they are clean)

Friday we took the kids to see the monster trucks, they had so much fun. They all sat at the edge of their seat (except for Kiley).

Saturday was our big day. Cory and I signed the closing papers on our land. 10 acres are now ours!!! We are so excited and can't wait for us to be out there. Now though, the hard work starts and every chance we have, we will be out there getting it ready.

This week, Monday is gone, kids get out of school early two days, I have one running fever and I have to pack for my Women's Walk that starts Thursday. I'm not sure when my gazillion loads of laundry will get done!! But again...at least they are clean!!!

Valentine's

What a day!!

A couple of weeks ago, I asked the kids what a good Valentine's gift would be for them. To my surprise, a couple of them said books. To my excitement, I got to go to Barnes and Noble and spend money. I tried to find everyone age appropriate books, and books that had series. Luckily, I was able to find series for all the kids but two. It was fun lining them all up with matching red bags, then saying "go" and all start throwing paper around. At first most of their reactions where, "books?" But after they started looking at them, they got excited, and I told them that if they liked and read the first two in the series, we would go get more. Made my heart feel good when a couple of them started reading right then. Also thrown in, Monster Nation tickets, I'm not sure who is more excited, the kids, or Cory! My mom had asked what we had planned for Valentine's Day, I told her nothing because of it being a school night and kids would still have homework. So, she handed me a movie, and said to make it a movie night. We got pizza, then all the kids grabbed blankets and piled up in the living room. Popcorn and M&M's ready, we watched Courageous! What an amazing movie!! I think in parts of the movie we all had tears in our eyes! It was such a perfect night, what Valentine's is all about. Love! Love of God, Love of spouse, Love of children, Love of family. I couldn't have had a better Valentine's Day!! N

500???

So the kids have brought home papers about the 100th day of school and that they would have a hat parade!! The idea is to put 100 things on a hat, so in my house, thats 500 things! Of course, of the 5 kids in elementary, none of them said anything about making one till the last minute.

I didn't have 5 hats or 500 things to put on a hat. Just thinking about gluing 500 buttons, beads, or anything on is crazy. So, one thing I did have was construction paper. So, I just took different colors and cut strips in them, layered the colors, and then there were 500 construction strips. No beads everywhere, it was all in one piece. I then attached ribbon and was able to adjust it to each of their heads.

Of course, the oldest saw them and just had to have one. So at the last second before school, hers was underway. So total...600 "fringes" that looked oh so silly and the kids loved them!!

Laundry

THERE'S TOO MUCH!!!!!

I have always had a lot of laundry to do, but now, it's NEVER ENDING!! Every day there are 8 britches, 8 shirts, then all the miscellaneous things that get mixed in there.

Thanks to Pinterest,  I found a recipe for homemade laundry detergent. Normally, I would buy a large jug that was about $11. For just a few dollars more I was able to buy everything I needed for this recipe and it is supposed to last much longer.

I have been washing with it for almost a week now. So far it's great!! There isn't much scent to it, but it smells clean (if that makes sense) and there is no static with clothes coming out of the dryer.

Now, if I could just catch up with it and stay caught up with it, that would be great!!! That laundry fairy would be great!! But for now, it's mom, and this mom may be tired of laundry, but I love my house being filled with kids, playing, laughing, games...the arguing can go, but that just comes with it! I would trade it for the world!!

The look.....

The other day I had to stop at the store for bread and milk. I had 5 of the 6 kids with me, which normally I would NEVER go to the store with that many, but it was just two things, so we went.

I've always told my kids, whether it's 3 or 6, "don't touch anything, don't ask for anything" So I give the little speech before we went in. I got the normal "yes ma'am" from all. We get in and start walking down the aisle and I look back and they are all following, but scattered from one side to the other. So I tell them to just walk behind me so other people can pass. They do, I grab the milk and head down the bread aisle. There is an older couple standing there, so I say, "excuse us" I get pass them and get the kids passed and because there are several other people on this aisle, I tell the kids to "line'em up" which they know that means to stand in a line. They did, and as they are, the older lady is counting the kids and says, "oh my" I just giggle and tell her one is missing and I also have a 14yr old daughter, she then laughs and shakes her head.

I never thought about someone's reaction to us being in public and seeing all the kids. Granted, 3 of them are all the same height and one of them isn't much taller then those 3. Guess we could look like a circus to some! But that's ok, ill take my circus any day!!!

SSSHHHHH

Today was very quite at my house. I was up at 545, by 600 I had everyone else in the house up! That's 7 other people to get up and moving. I'm not sure how it happened, but I'm sure glad it all went very smooth!! YaY me!!

I got Cory out the door for work, then loaded kids up for school, everyone dropped off, and I went home to silence, clothes, dressers to be filled, non-cartoons to be watched!!!

Now, I'm sitting in the pick-up line. Then snack, homework, play, dinner, baths, bed..  I think that's all!

Coming together .... i think

We have finally been able to get dressers over and another bunk! I can start putting clothes in dressers again and my living room will be "normal" again. The boys now have their room and the girls now have theirs! Now to get everything in it's place.

YaY for progress!!
