What a week...

Last week was long and this week doesn't seem to be just as long. Monday -Wednesday I ran errands from the time I dropped kids off till the time I picked them up. Thursday, I saw the house for one hour before leaving again to get the kids. Friday I was able to go home after dropping them off at school, but waiting for me at home was about 10 loads of laundry that needed to be folded. I was so worn out that I just sat there looking at them, hoping that the laundry fairy would show up. That didn't happen and I still have the pile staring at me, only now its bigger. (At least they are clean)

Friday we took the kids to see the monster trucks, they had so much fun. They all sat at the edge of their seat (except for Kiley).

Saturday was our big day. Cory and I signed the closing papers on our land. 10 acres are now ours!!! We are so excited and can't wait for us to be out there. Now though, the hard work starts and every chance we have, we will be out there getting it ready.

This week, Monday is gone, kids get out of school early two days, I have one running fever and I have to pack for my Women's Walk that starts Thursday. I'm not sure when my gazillion loads of laundry will get done!! But again...at least they are clean!!!

Valentine's

What a day!!

A couple of weeks ago, I asked the kids what a good Valentine's gift would be for them. To my surprise, a couple of them said books. To my excitement, I got to go to Barnes and Noble and spend money. I tried to find everyone age appropriate books, and books that had series. Luckily, I was able to find series for all the kids but two. It was fun lining them all up with matching red bags, then saying "go" and all start throwing paper around. At first most of their reactions where, "books?" But after they started looking at them, they got excited, and I told them that if they liked and read the first two in the series, we would go get more. Made my heart feel good when a couple of them started reading right then. Also thrown in, Monster Nation tickets, I'm not sure who is more excited, the kids, or Cory! My mom had asked what we had planned for Valentine's Day, I told her nothing because of it being a school night and kids would still have homework. So, she handed me a movie, and said to make it a movie night. We got pizza, then all the kids grabbed blankets and piled up in the living room. Popcorn and M&M's ready, we watched Courageous! What an amazing movie!! I think in parts of the movie we all had tears in our eyes! It was such a perfect night, what Valentine's is all about. Love! Love of God, Love of spouse, Love of children, Love of family. I couldn't have had a better Valentine's Day!! N

500???

So the kids have brought home papers about the 100th day of school and that they would have a hat parade!! The idea is to put 100 things on a hat, so in my house, thats 500 things! Of course, of the 5 kids in elementary, none of them said anything about making one till the last minute.

I didn't have 5 hats or 500 things to put on a hat. Just thinking about gluing 500 buttons, beads, or anything on is crazy. So, one thing I did have was construction paper. So, I just took different colors and cut strips in them, layered the colors, and then there were 500 construction strips. No beads everywhere, it was all in one piece. I then attached ribbon and was able to adjust it to each of their heads.

Of course, the oldest saw them and just had to have one. So at the last second before school, hers was underway. So total...600 "fringes" that looked oh so silly and the kids loved them!!
